WHY DO I NEED A WEDDING ALBUM?

WHY DO I NEED A WEDDING ALBUM?

In a time where digital rules the industry, you should consider the value of a wedding album.

It’s an inevitable truth that technology is ever evolving. From floppy discs to DVD-ROMs to USB keys to the cloud, how we save digital information has changed rapidly and without thought for the past. Most MacBooks don’t come with DVD Drives anymore. Is there even a way to get files from a floppy disc?

The same goes for photography, not only is the gear always evolving but so is the way our clients wish to receive their images. Digital files and online galleries appeal as a convenient and efficient way to access our images. Our society thrives on the instant gratification that you get when your Instagram post gets hundreds of “likes” or when your online community gushes over your Facebook post.

But as I’ve watched the popularity for digital delivery rise, I’ve also noticed a large decline in the emotional experience that comes along with wedding photos. The images I work to capture during a wedding are not meant to just be “images” to share and download later. What I aspire to capture every single wedding is the STORY and the MEMORIES. I want you to be able to relive the experience that is supposed to be the happiest day of your life over and over for years to come.

That being said, digital files have their benefits, don’t get me wrong. But I see a huge disconnect between the memories and the images when they are so readily available electronically. Sure its convenient..and you may get a Facebook memory notification on your anniversary, but I feel, as a photographer, that it doesn’t give time or due justice to the momentous event that is your wedding day. It takes no time at all to pull the images up on your phone, but the next thing you know you’re getting a text from your sister, a new Facebook notification rings, you’ve got six new Snapchats from your friends, and your boss is emailing you about your 8am meeting and you have to respond right away. Before you know it you’ve completely forgotten about about your wedding photos.

That’s just one of the reasons I’ve come to view albums and physical prints as such vital elements to the experience I wish to give my clients. It’s tangible, not just 1s and 0s. A wedding album is something you can physically pass down through generations. I remember being able to look at my grandparent’s wedding photos from their 1950s ceremony. To be able to physically hold those photos allowed me to connect with that moment in time when their love was so new and their lives together were just starting out. My son will be able have these photos and his children later on as well. I want to give you that same feeling of nostalgia. That joy when you go through your own wedding album or walk through your home past the beautiful wall art we designed together.

Let me repeat that: “WE design together”. From start to finish, I want my clients to be apart of the process of designing the album. Don’t worry, I guide you through material selection, image lay \outs, and the finished product. With years of experience designing albums, I know what works well in album design and how to cater the design of your album to fit your personality as a couple and reflect your special day.

I hear it from my clients all the time…”We really love your work, but we just aren’t interested in an album right now, we plan to do it later on.” Or “We just want the digital files right now and then we can print them later”. I’ll be real honest with you right here and now. 98% of my clients who say they will create an album or print their photos later, DON’T. That’s because procrastination is part of being human and there will always be something else that pops up (new baby, new house, family emergency, etc). Most clients SAY they will just do it later when they have time, but it isn’t about having the time, it’s about MAKING the time. That is why I include a wedding album in all of my wedding packages. Let me give you that time now!

It won’t be just any standard wedding album, either. As a boutique photography studio I employ the best resources in the business. That is why I pair with Vision Art when it comes to my albums. They go above and beyond as far as the quality and durability of your album. (They also have killer customer service!) With over 2 million combinations of materials and styles, you are almost guaranteed to have a one-of-a-kind wedding album unique to who you are as a couple. Whether you prefer the look of leather over velvet or maybe something debossed, I have access to several material choices and colours! And that’s just for the cover! We can go over end sheet options and how you would like your names to look on the front. (Or maybe you’d rather have a personal emblem? We can do that too!) The options are endless and with the layout designs I create using your photos, your wedding album will be the perfect recollection of your wedding day.

Together we can create something that will last for years to come. So instead of swiping through photos to post online, you can sit back with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and turn the pages of your beautiful and customized wedding album.
