Raph Nogal Workshop at GTA Imaging: Progression From Natural Light to Off-Camera Flash – May 17, 2016
Wow, what a rush! I recently presented at GTA Imaging – an amazing professional photography lab, a 2+ hour talk on the progression from natural light to off-camera flash. This was my first long talk and of course, I didn’t know what to expect. Looking back at it now, it honestly felt like it was about 15-20 minutes… I was excited to share a lot of info with other photographers.
I went as far back as 2008 and showed photos from my first few weddings…my overall progression and went through tonnes of examples of how I utilize natural light, reflected light, video light, smaller speed-lights, speed lights with modifiers (such as the incredible MagMod system) and bigger strobes, such as the Profoto B1 and B2 systems. It was great to share how I utilize things I learn from using natural light and apply them when I use video light, for example and how these concepts can be useful in various situations during a really wedding.

If you came out to see, it – thank you so much. We had a sold-out crowd and it was so awesome to see friends, colleagues, and everyone interested in off-camera flash.
I hope to do another talk soon, so check back to the “for photographers” section of the blog to find out more details.

Huge thanks to MagMod, for supplying a few giveaways at the talk…everyone LOVED the MagMod system. Big thanks to GTA Imaging for getting the local photography community together and having me come to present…and a big thanks to my buddy Paul for taking some behind-the-scenes shots of the presentation.
